Education, Research and Community 

Dr Rudyard Wake graduated from Flinders Medical School in Adelaide in 2009 and worked as an intern and surgical resident at Royal Adelaide and Lyell McEwin Hospitals before moving to NSW where he undertook further training as an unaccredited surgical registrar in Sydney and Orange working in multiple hospitals. He was selected for specialist training in General Surgery in 2014 working at Hospitals in Sydney, Darwin and Canberra. He completed the 5 year training program in 2019 and completed 3 years of Post-graduate Fellowship training at The Canberra Hospital in Colorectal Surgery and Emergency Surgery. Dr Rudyard Wake is employed as a Staff Specialist General Surgeon at The Royal Hobart Hospital in Colorectal and Emergency Surgery.

He is a passionate teacher training the next generation of surgeons and medical students at UTAS.
He is highly regarded as caring and kind by his patients and values a network of collegiate professionals
utilising a multi-disciplinary approach to ensure the best outcomes for his patients. His work interests relate to thorough assessment and considered management of General Surgical pathologies. He has a specific interest in minimally invasive Colorectal and Emergency Surgery for malignant and benign conditions including IBD.
He is expert in the management of a wide range of General Surgical conditions including gallstone disease,
diverticular disease, bowel obstructions, perianal disease, abdominal wall hernias, as well as minor procedures such as lipomas and in-grown toenails.
